Three days ago, I (23F) gave my number to a guy (26M) who lives in my neighborhood. Ever since then, we've tried all forms of communication: calls, texts, and meeting up, but everything seems so forced, at least on my end. All he ever talks about is how much he is in love with me (even though we started talking three days ago), and to me that feels creepy and weird. If I ask him about his day or his hobbies, he is either chilling, coding, or making music, and that is fine, I guess. Still, every time he talks about that, he always has to mention that, unlike his peers who are out partying, he is actually doing something to better his life, which is so unnecessary.
He insists on talking multiple times a day, but he isn't actively engaging in the conversation. Yesterday I told him, "I want to know you, so when I ask about your day, please give me details," but today when I asked, he said, "It was great". Also, my grand uncle died, and I was supposed to go home yesterday so that I could be at home to help out before the funeral, but the taxi did not come for me, and when I told him this, he showed zero empathy even though I told him how sad I was about the situation; he just kept saying kudos to the driver for leaving me because now he gets to spend more time with me and that really gave me an ick.
Texting in general makes me anxious, and this whole thing is not helping. I wish we were at a point in this talking stage where things just organically happened and I did not feel like I was being held at gunpoint every time I had to talk to him.
Anyway, I was wondering if I should give this whole thing some time or give up on the dude?
